Dish Network vs Cable TV
When looking for a good deal on home entertainment, you probably are looking at either satellite TV or cable television service. While you usually only have one cable company to pick from, with satellite television you have two, DirecTV and Dish Television. Lets briefly compare Dish Network vs cable service.
Satellite television service has now been available for more than 16 years. Incredibly, cable television has now been around about 40 years in most areas. With cable TV, you usually have higher rates, as they have a last mile network to maintain. Dish Network is probably the cheapest pay television option. Their subscription rates are even lower than Direct TV. Another plus when reviewing cable vs Dish Network.
With Dish Network, you have to have a place to mount a satellite dish. If you live in an apartment, this can be an issue. Many have resolved this issue by putting a satellite stand on their patio, as long as it has a southern exposure. Cable television of course has hard lines running into every apartment building served in the area, so that may be your only choice if you live in an apartment.
Digital video recorders have become extremely popular over the past few years, and both cable TV companies and Dish Network offer this service. Reviews of the Dish DVR though are much higher then the DVR’s used by cable operators. In addition, Dish TV charges much less then your cable company for DVR service, sometimes by as much as $10 a month.
When it comes to HD content you should check with your local cable operator to see how many channels they offer compared to Dish Network. The number can be quite different based on where you live. Dish Network does offer over 100 HD channels, but you do have an extra $10 a month charge, while most cable companies do not charge extra for their HD content.
Overall, pros and cons exist with both cable TV and Dish Network. Fully evaluating your choice beforehand will insure you are satisfied with your service later on.

The Red Zone Channel on DIRECTV
Training camps will begin soon in preparation for the 2009 NFL season, and that also means that fantasy football players need to start making preparations now for the upcoming season. One absolutely necessary puzzle piece for serious fantasy football players is the Red Zone channel, which is available with the DIRECTV NFL Sunday Ticket package.
What is the Red Zone channel, and why should you consider satellite TV if you are a serious fantasy football player?
In short, the Red Zone channel is one of the additional networks contained in the Superfan package, an add-on to the base Sunday Ticket package. The channel provides live coverage of the games in which one of the teams is about to score. So why would this be important to the fantasy football owner?
Basically this channel will keep you updated on all of the scoring going on, but without the need to keep your eyes glued to a computer screen for the latest updates. You can simply enjoy the Red Zone channel and all of the other Sunday Ticket offerings from the comfort of your living room couch, not your office computer.
Fantasy football owners love the Red Zone channel for two reasons. One, it keeps them up to the minute in real time as to the status of their own players, and those of their opponent. Second, this Superfan channel is a great scouting tool, in that you will see which players ar e heating up in the NFL. Think of the advantage you will have as a fantasy owner in being to pick up those undrafted free agents, helping you to win your fantasy league title!
At this time, you cannot subscribe to the Red Zone channel individually, but that may change soon with the latest DIRECTV-NFL Sunday Ticket agreement. Because the NFL Sunday ticket is an exclusive of Direct TV satellite, you may want to look into a new satellite TV subscription if you want to dominate your fantasy league this season.

DIRECTV Arabic Programming
Direct TV has reached out to its burgeoning Western audience of Arabic speakers over the last several years, and I would like to talk just a little about the benefits that they offer. Also, I will touch on the DIRECTV Arabic programming channels and what shows they have on; just what you can expect in general from this powerhouse of satellite TV communications and broadcast.
For only about you can get five completely different Arabic language television channels through Direct TV. This has not been possible before, so if you get it you will truly be a revolutionary. They even have a name for this offering, which is ArabicDirect. Before ordering you will have to ask your company representative if part of your package will be to get Al-Jazeera. They may not want to advertise the fact, because of the wary eyes of native Americans onto this channel. But we all know that that is the top Arab channel; bringing great news and with a real eye into the Arab and Muslim community like no other media outlet.
Here is what channels you will get (although these may be subject to change, check before ordering): Orbit Al-Yawm, Rotana Zaman, Orbit Seen, Rotana Cinema, and Rotana Moossika which is obviously a great Arab music station. You can put it on and dance around your living room and feel all the greatness of the Arab culture. That is truly a great lineup of entertainment to the max! Movies and just about everything else you will need is all there.
Now, it bears repeating that the stations that are part of this DIRECTV Arabic programming are literally being beamed right into your house via satellite all the way from the heart of the Middle East. These aren’t pretend channels. They are the real deal.
Now the last thing that needs to be reviewed is the fact that before you get these five Arabic satellite stations you will have to first order the basic package of DIRECTV. This may not really cost you that much. And although you may not watch those basic television stations, it won’t necessarily cost much to get them and then you’ll be able to access ArabicDirect. One last thing is that I would look out for DIRECTV’s Arab programs to expand as time goes on; they obviously want to get in on your market, which is growing ever more every single day with emigration and the general moving of all populations all over in this mobile century. The other option of course if you can not find exactly what you need is the Dish Arabic TV option, also available via satellite TV.

AT&T U-Verse – An Alternative to Cable Television
Perhaps you have grown tired of ever increasing cable television bills. That wouldn’t be surprising, as statistics show that cable TV companies raise rates an average of 4% every year! One alternative is satellite TV, but a third choice available in many areas is AT&T U-verse service.
U-verse is the brand name product of a new technology being rolled out by AT&T.Basically, it can give you all of the same services that your cable television company can offer. Not only will you get digital quality video service including quite a bit of HD content, but you can also subscribe to high speed internet and of course your home phone line as well.A few years back, cable TV companies began to offer triple-play bundles which offered all three services together. That seemed to wake up phone companies like Verizon and AT&T, both of which now offer these same triple-play bundles.
So do the ATT Uverse reviews compare well with your cable television operator?
Some side-by-side comparison shopping would probably be in order if you are looking at AT&T’s service. Generally, if you are a new customer you can strike a pretty good deal, especially if you want all three services. One thing to consider is that U-verse is brand new in many areas, so some customers have reported bugs in the video service. While cable TV companies have been at it for decades, AT&T is new to the video game. Take some time to look at some of the AT&T Uverse reviews out there before jumping into the service.
Overall, At&T U-verse may fit your needs if you are searching for an affordable option to cable. The first step is to see if it is even available to you, as the deployment of the service is taking several years. If not, there is still the option of going with one of the satellite TV companies if you are looking to dump your cable television company.

Cox Cable TV vs Dish Network
TV has changed a lot over the past 10 years. A huge choice of channels to choose from, LCD screens, hi-definition picture. With new and continuously changing technologies, plopping down in front of the television got a little bit more complicated. These days, the hard decision is no longer selecting your favorite channel or what program to view. It is whether you should choose cable or satellite TV.
Like all other decisions in life, you can make a pro/con list to help you weigh your options. Then you will be able to come to a decision. We have done a short list for you below. Hopefully, this helps a bit.
Let’s begin with the advantages of cable televison. Whether it’s Comcast or Cablevision, digital cable is expanding at a rate its creators at Motorola are ecstatic about. Advancements and innovations of this new service provide vastly improved audio and video quality. Plus there are so many more channels. All this comes at a comparable price tag to satellite TV. Cable channels are also usually more accessible from multiple rooms in the house.
On the downside, however, Cablevision prices depend on where you are located as local taxes do have an impact on your monthly cable bill. Another factor, cable companies don’t easily have reach to more rural areas. And since cable companies broadcast their signals from a home base, you should also be ready to pay more when they increase service fees. This is to enhance equipment that is needed for your viewing pleasure. So, comparing its price to satellite isn’t quite a valid point of argument. It all ends up pretty much the same with all the added expenses.
Now for the advantages of satellite TV. Your television experience will match that of a cinematic experience. This is no exaggeration, believe me. Satellite TV services such as DirecTV and Dish Network promise hundreds of channels on HD. They also have that movie quality audio and picture displays. Because of the science behind satellite television systems, it is readily and easily available in both urban and rural areas. Definite advantage to satellite.
As for the cons, getting started and purchasing all the equipment when you sign up can be expensive. In addition, satellite reception is moody and often dependent on the weather conditions outside. Lining up services next to each other, such as Dish TV versus Cox Cable is the best way to comparison shop. It really doesn’t matter how you make your choice. Flip a coin. Consult your friends and neighbors. It’s your tv, anyway. It’s your choice. Just make sure you don’t regret the pricey decision.
